Overview

MODIFI (Chinese brand 贸德飞) is a digital B2B trade-finance company for exporters who wait 30–180 days on overseas buyers. The product is invoice finance after shipment: you upload the invoice, MODIFI pays a large share once goods are on the way, and the buyer pays MODIFI later. Official seller pages say MODIFI takes buyer payment and collection risk, without asking for real-estate collateral or a personal guarantee. It is not an Amazon FBA weekly payout account.

Legal entities on the imprint: MODIFI B.V. (Amsterdam, KvK 73275905) and MODIFI GmbH (Berlin, HRB 193573 B, registered 21 March 2018). The group was founded in 2018 by Nelson Holzner, Sven Brauer and Jan Wehrs (the BillPay team later sold to Klarna). Maersk Growth was an early investor; that is venture backing, not “Maersk operates your loan.” This catalogue previously pointed website at qupital.com — that is Qupital, a Hong Kong ecommerce lender, not MODIFI.

About pages (rechecked 2026-09-06) claim 1,700+ customers in 55+ countries, with offices in Amsterdam, Berlin, Shenzhen, Singapore, Mumbai, Dhaka, Delhi, Dubai, New York and Mexico City. Partner pages cite US$3.5bn+ trade volume financed and 1,800+ trading partners. Treat those as company figures.

Core features and advantages

Seller invoice finance (export)

The seller flow on modifi.com: upload the invoice → MODIFI pays after shipment → the buyer pays MODIFI in 30–120 days. Chinese trade press (亿邦动力, 雨果网) and older onboarding copy describe an 80% advance and the remaining 20% after the buyer settles. That 80/20 split is widely reported and was in this catalogue’s previous body, but it is not a 2026 public rate card — confirm the advance rate on the live offer. Default and dispute handling sit in the seller help centre (support.modifi.com).

Buyer BNPL and trade hub

The other side is B2B buy-now-pay-later: importers get time to pay while the exporter is cashed out. The Trade Hub is the collaboration layer — confirm trades, store invoice and shipment timestamps, and track cargo. This is for named commercial counterparties, not for a thousand FBA ASINs.

Global Account Solution

MODIFI’s Global Account Solution (GAS), launched with Airwallex, opens multi-currency receiving accounts (USD, EUR, GBP, CAD among those named) so buyers can pay a local-looking account while the exporter still uses invoice finance. Chinese coverage says this is aimed at exporters who cannot easily explain a new beneficiary to a department-store or marketplace buyer.

Supported platforms

MODIFI is not a Seller Central deposit method. Public partner and China-market coverage names large B2B or marketplace buyers including Amazon (including Vendor Central in Chinese press), Walmart DSV, JD Worldwide, Wayfair, Tmall International, Coupang and Temu. Payment-side partners named in Chinese coverage include PingPong, Airwallex and SUNRATE. Currencies and corridors are underwritten per buyer and seller country (partner pages: 15+ seller countries, 54 buyer countries). Confirm the current buyer list with sales.

Who it's for

  • Factories and B2B exporters selling to Western or marketplace buyers on 30–120 day terms who need cash after the container leaves.
  • China-origin exporters using the Shenzhen team and GAS so a US or Mexican buyer still pays a familiar account.
  • Skip it if you only need Amazon FBA collection into CNY (use PingPong or Payoneer), if you have no identifiable commercial buyer, or if you need a Hong Kong revolving line against shop GMV (Qupital / FundPark).

Concrete use: a Shenzhen cabinet exporter ships to a European retailer on 90-day terms, uploads the commercial invoice and bill of lading, receives an advance within a couple of days, and lets the buyer pay MODIFI at maturity. The cost that matters is the discount on the financed amount versus waiting 90 days — not a collection FX quote.

Pricing and value

There is no public 2026 fee table. A 2019 launch note mentioned fees starting at 0.99% of the financed amount for 30 days, with tenors up to 120 days; that is obsolete marketing. Help-centre topics include “How are my fees structured?” behind the logged-in or article set — get the quote in writing.

Compare annualised invoice-discount cost with a bank facility if you have one. Do not treat “80% in 48 hours” as a contract until the framework agreement and buyer limit are approved. Contact: hello@modifi.com; China WeChat official account modifichina.

Community feedback

r/AmazonSeller barely mentions MODIFI; it is not an FBA weekly tool. Chinese seller media (雨果网, 亿邦动力, 经济观察网) cover the 80% invoice advance, Vendor Central-style buyers, and the China expansion (Shenzhen as the China hub, Series C with SMBC Asia Rising Fund reported in late 2024). English discussion is trade-finance press and company case studies (for example an Indian cabinetry exporter with a €2.5m line). There are few independent “support was slow” threads, so this page does not invent them.

Competitive positioning

MODIFI is export receivables, not a wallet. Qupital and FundPark score marketplace shops in Hong Kong. Linklogis sits on Chinese anchor enterprises and banks. Stenn offered a similar invoice product and entered UK administration in December 2024 — do not apply there. For platform payouts, compare PingPong, Payoneer and Airwallex; Airwallex is also MODIFI’s GAS rails partner.

Alternatives

  • Qupital: Hong Kong marketplace-revenue loans, not buyer-risk factoring.
  • FundPark: Revolving inventory/revenue facilities against shop data.
  • Linklogis: Anchor supply-chain finance and an Amazon-linked product for some China sellers.
  • PingPong: Licensed marketplace collection; a partner, not a substitute for invoice finance.

Limitations

Underwriting is buyer- and file-driven; a solo FBA shop with no commercial invoice will not fit. Advance rates and fees are sales-led. Buyers must be willing to pay MODIFI. Disputes, quantity adjustments and House BL rules are operational, not automatic. Company volume figures are first-party. Maersk is an investor history, not a shipping guarantee. The old catalogue URL was wrong.

Verdict

Use MODIFI if you export on open account and need to monetise invoices after shipment, especially with a named overseas buyer. Do not use it as an Amazon FBA collection account. Next step: start at modifi.com or email hello@modifi.com (China: WeChat modifichina) and ask for the current advance rate, tenor, and buyer-limit process.

Data notes

Rechecked 2026-09-06 against modifi.com (home, About, seller product, partners, imprint, contact), support.modifi.com section list, and Chinese trade press on the 80% advance and GAS. Customer, country and volume totals are company figures and unverified. monthlyVisits, domainRating, and authorityScore are inherited catalogue values and unverified (previous zh/jp DR/AS were out of 0–100 and were reset to the English integers). Current fees and the 80/20 split must be confirmed on the offer. published: 2018-03-21 is the German GmbH register date; group founding year 2018 is consistent with company materials.
