Overview
Tencent Translator’s consumer web app, mobile app and mini-program stopped at 11:00 on 13 March 2025. The company said large models were reshaping translation, service would move into Tencent Yuanbao, online access would end, and user data would be deleted. The developer API then closed on 15 April 2025, with traffic pointed at Hunyuan translation / Tencent Cloud Machine Translation (TMT). On 2026-09-06 fanyi.qq.com still returns a front-end shell titled 腾讯翻译君 (static assets Last-Modified 26 May 2026). Do not treat that hostname as a live seller tool.
翻译君 launched in November 2016 with roughly 17–18 languages for text, image and speech. Vendor figures once claimed nine-digit daily requests. For cross-border sellers it was never a storefront language layer — only a short-text and camera translator that opened on mainland networks. After shutdown, split the job: tickets on Youdao or Baidu Translate; European listings on DeepL; long-tail languages on Google Translate; ERP hooks on TMT or Hunyuan, not a retired domain.

Core features and advantages
Consumer features that are gone
Before shutdown the site and app offered text, OCR image translation, speech and a simultaneous-interpretation entry, with far fewer languages than Google’s 200-plus. Personal use was largely free. Those doors closed on the published timetable. Do not rebuild a 2026 workflow around them.
Tencent Cloud Machine Translation still runs
The cloud product at cloud.tencent.com/product/tmt is a different console from 翻译君. 2026 docs still list about 18 languages (Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Turkish, Russian, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Malay, Thai, and related). Documented free quotas: 5 million characters per month for text; 10,000 calls per month each for image and speech; no monthly free pack for file translation. Overage is prepaid packs or postpay, and postpay must be switched on in the console. Third parties have long quoted about CNY 58 per million characters for the lower text band — confirm on Tencent Cloud’s billing overview. Docs also say classic NMT text/document/image/speech will stop iterating and wind down, with new work on Hunyuan translation.
Hunyuan translation and Yuanbao
Consumers were sent to the Yuanbao app’s chat translate. Developers use Hunyuan translation APIs. The Hy-MT2 open models were announced 21 May 2026, with a vendor claim of 33-language pairs plus glossary and style instructions. That is a separate SKU: signup, billing and SLA live on Tencent Cloud, not on fanyi.qq.com.
Supported platforms
翻译君 app / web / mini-program: stopped. Remaining Tencent translation surfaces:
- Tencent Cloud TMT APIs (text, image, speech, end-to-end image)
- Hunyuan translation API / open Hy-MT2
- Yuanbao app chat translate
None of them sync Amazon Seller Central or emit language URLs. Storefront SEO is Weglot.
Who it's for
- Mainland sellers who had 翻译君 in a popup tool: retarget Youdao, Baidu or a TMT key, and grep desktop translators for a dead QQ engine.
- Engineering teams that want a Tencent Cloud bill and ~18 languages: open TMT and diary the classic-API sunset.
- Everyone else: skip the 翻译君 hostname. Do not teach fanyi.qq.com to new hires.
Concrete case: an agency SOP line that said “CS pastes tickets into 翻译君” should now say Youdao desktop lookup; DE/FR hero ASINs go to DeepL; scripts hard-coded to the QQ Translate AppId must move to Hunyuan or TMT or they have been failing since April 2025.
Pricing and value
There is no consumer monthly SKU after shutdown. What is still sold is Tencent Cloud:
- TMT text: 5 million characters/month free (docs); packs and postpay on the billing page
- Image / speech: about 10,000 free calls each per month
- Hunyuan: token / model tiers; postpay is a console toggle
Do not price 2026 cloud usage from a 2018 memory that “翻译君 is free.” Exhaust the free pack with postpay off and the service stops.
Community feedback
February 2025 shutdown notices were widely copied by IT Home, NBD and Jiemodui. User reaction was “another app switch” and data deletion, not a quality bake-off. Cross-border seller forums almost never treated 翻译君 as a sourcing staple. Developer docs for selection-translate plugins recorded the API close date and the Hunyuan move. English Reddit is silent. If an old bookmark still loads fanyi.qq.com, that is a shell, not a service commitment.
Competitive positioning
翻译君 left the consumer market; compare successors. TMT has few languages and a large free character bucket — fine for mainland EN/JA/KO scripts. DeepL is stronger on European pairs. Google Translate has the longest tail and a weak mainland path. Youdao is the replacement desktop for reading mail. Yuanbao is a chatbot, not a glossary or CAT tool.

- DeepL for DE/FR/ES listings and tickets.
- Google Translate for long-tail languages (needs an international network).
- Youdao for mainland lookup, documents and factory PDFs.
- Weglot for storefront language URLs.
Limitations
The consumer product is dead; bookmarks mislead new staff. TMT’s ~18 languages cannot cover full Brazilian Portuguese or Arabic catalogs. Classic TMT APIs are on a documented wind-down. Yuanbao folds translate into general chat with no seller glossary. Cloud keys with overly broad IAM can touch unrelated Tencent Cloud resources. Machine output is still not a compliance final.
Verdict
Stop sending colleagues to fanyi.qq.com. Read mail in Youdao or Baidu, draft European copy in DeepL, and if you need a Tencent invoice use TMT/Hunyuan while watching sunset notes. 翻译君 is not a 2026 production tool.
Next step: for tickets, open Youdao or Baidu; if a script once called the 翻译君 API, issue a new TMT or Hunyuan key and prove in staging that calls no longer hit the closed endpoint.
