Overview
This entry is not a standalone SaaS app. It is Similarweb’s public Ecommerce & Shopping ranking: a monthly table of the most-visited shopping domains. Cross-border sellers use it before they open a new marketplace — to see whether shopping traffic in a country sits on Amazon, on Temu, on a local mall, or on classifieds — not to replace Seller Central or ads reporting.
For July 2026 (Similarweb updated the page on 1 August 2026) the global top five were amazon.com, temu.com, ebay.com, ozon.ru, and walmart.com, followed by aliexpress.com, amazon.in, amazon.co.jp, etsy.com, and amazon.de. Each row includes average visit duration, pages per visit, bounce rate, and rank change. The numbers are domain-level estimates. They are not ASIN sales and they are not your store’s conversion rate.
Similarweb Ltd. is an Israeli company listed on the NYSE as SMWB. The ranking is free and shallow: limited metrics and a short history. Country filters, longer history, and exports live in paid Web Intelligence. Treat the page as a map of platforms, not a daily product-research dashboard.
Core features and advantages
Global and country shopping league tables
The same ranking can be viewed worldwide or sliced to a country. The United States shopping top five in July 2026 were amazon.com, walmart.com, ebay.com, temu.com, and etsy.com — not a copy of the global list, where Temu sat second. If you are choosing between the US and Japan, read the country table, not only the worldwide #1.
Engagement columns and rank change
Duration, pages per visit, and bounce rate sit next to rank. In July 2026 amazon.com showed about 5 minutes 52 seconds per visit, 9.18 pages, and a 30.57% bounce rate; temu.com was shorter and bouncier. That is useful context for “do shoppers browse,” not a conversion model. Rank-change flags who is entering or leaving the top twenty.
Where the free ranking stops
The public page is free and sometimes offers Excel export, depending on the current gate. Paid Similarweb products add traffic-source mix, keywords, ads, and longer history. Higher packages are quote-led on the official packages page. Third-party blogs often cite about $125 per month billed annually for Competitive Intelligence; confirm live pricing on similarweb.com. Most sellers do not need a seat just to scan this ranking once a month.
Supported platforms
This is a website ranking, not a store connector. It covers domains Similarweb files under Ecommerce & Shopping: marketplaces (Amazon, eBay, Temu, AliExpress), retailers (Walmart, Target), classifieds (Avito), and properties such as Shopify’s shop.app. Country views are based on estimated visitor geography, not Seller Central marketplace IDs. There is no Amazon or Shopify OAuth and no order sync.
Who it's for
- Solo / small teams deciding whether a second marketplace is worth the setup cost, using free rank and engagement as a first filter.
- Mid-size sellers and brands explaining why US ads are expensive while a local mall or classifieds site still dominates another country.
- Strategy and investment research that needs platform-level share, not listing-level data.
- Skip it if you already run one marketplace and need keywords, BSR, or PPC — this page will not do that job.
Concrete use case: before cloning a US Amazon playbook to Japan, open the global shopping ranking for amazon.co.jp and rakuten.co.jp, then switch to the Japan country view. If traffic is split across Rakuten, Yahoo Shopping, and Amazon, rebuild fees and logistics for that mix instead of pasting US TACOS assumptions.
Pricing and value
The ranking is free. Similarweb’s extension and free dashboard add a short history and limited competitors. Web Intelligence, Retail Intelligence, and related modules are sold per seat; enterprise is sales-led. This page does not treat third-party dollar tables as an official price list. For most cross-border sellers the free ranking is enough for “where should we open next.” Pay only if you need systematic competitor-traffic teardown.
Community feedback
Sellers rarely search for this ranking by name; they say “Similarweb.” On r/ecommerce and r/SEO the usual comments are that free numbers show direction, that they will not match Google Analytics (different measurement), and that country filters hide behind expensive seats. The shopping ranking itself refreshes around the start of each month and is widely cited in press. This catalog did not find a dedicated complaint thread about the public Ecommerce & Shopping table.
Competitive positioning
Similarweb’s edge is domain- and category-level traffic. Keepa and SellerSprite work at Amazon ASIN level. Google Trends is search interest. SimilarSites finds lookalike domains. Seller Central shows only your account. Those are different questions.
Alternatives
- SimilarSites — find domains that look like a competitor site, not platform-wide traffic.
- Google Trends — category search interest without visit estimates.
- Amazon — Seller Central and marketplace ops once you have already chosen Amazon.
Limitations
The table is an estimate, not official GMV. In-app traffic and logged-in browsing can be under-counted or miscategorised. Adult sites can appear in broad shopping lists; Similarweb warns about that. Free history is short. There are no keywords, ad spend, or profit figures. A high rank for temu.com or amazon.com as a website is not the same as app order volume.
Verdict
Use the shopping ranking when you are choosing a marketplace. Do not use it to pick ASINs or to tune ads. Do not buy an enterprise Similarweb seat only for this public page.
Next step: open the Ecommerce & Shopping ranking, switch to your target country, and write down the top twenty platforms before you spend on deeper data.
Data notes
Rechecked 2026-09-06 against Similarweb’s Ecommerce & Shopping ranking (July 2026 data, page stamped 1 August 2026) and the public packages description. published (2024-03-15), monthlyVisits, domainRating, and authorityScore are catalog placeholders and unverified.
