Overview
Overstock.com is live in 2026, but it is no longer a standalone public company under that name. The retailer that launched overstock.com in 1999 bought Bed Bath & Beyond’s brand IP in 2023, renamed the corporation Beyond, Inc. in November 2023, then Bed Bath & Beyond, Inc. in August 2025 (NYSE: BBBY). The flagship consumer site is bedbathandbeyond.com. Overstock.com was brought back in 2024 as a sister deals / closeout storefront. Both still show 2026 copyright; Overstock’s footer still points at corporate.beyond.com for some legal pages.
This catalog entry is for sellers, not coupon shoppers. You do not “open an Overstock shop” the way you open Amazon. The parent’s vendor intake is listed as bedbathandbeyond.com/partner. Day-to-day operations for many partners run through Supplier Oasis (inventory, orders, API). Fulfillment is still the historical Overstock model: asset-light dropship — partners ship to the customer. There is also a Marketplace layer (help text: items “Sold and Shipped By” a third-party seller). Neither path publishes a public Amazon-style fee card.
If a 2022 blog still calls Overstock an independent closeout unicorn, it is stale. If a 2023 article says Overstock.com was deleted forever, that is also stale.
Core features and advantages
Two consumer brands, one parent
Bed Bath & Beyond is positioned as home, bedding, bath, kitchen, and life-event shopping. Overstock is the deals / furniture / closeout / liquidation-leaning sister. SEC filings in 2026 still list Overstock among owned brands, alongside buybuy BABY, Kirkland’s / Kirkland’s Home, and others. Shopper accounts and rewards were shuffled during the 2023 rebrand; do not assume an old Overstock vendor login still maps 1:1. Ask the partner team which site a SKU will actually appear on.
Supplier Oasis and dropship
Partners manage catalog and inventory in Supplier Oasis, then dropship when an order hits. Integrators (ChannelEngine, Sellercloud, Order Desk — not Overstock’s public docs) describe API credentials that rotate, EDI for some accounts, and a U.S. tax ID plus U.S. warehouse as typical U.S. marketplace hygiene. Treat those as integrator requirements, not a Costco-style official PDF. Confirm insurance, routing, and return rules with the partner team. The company’s 10-K language still emphasizes partners fulfilling most retail transactions.
Marketplace vs 1P partner
Help articles distinguish Marketplace seller items (sold and shipped by the partner; CS/returns go to that seller) from Overstock / Bed Bath & Beyond fulfilled goods. That is closer to a 3P badge than to Walmart Marketplace self-serve signup. Expect an application, not an instant store. Third-party blogs that quote eBay-like listing fees of a few dollars are not used here — Overstock does not publish those numbers on the partner page we could verify.
Supported platforms
Consumers: overstock.com and bedbathandbeyond.com (plus apps). Sellers: partner page, Supplier Oasis, and (where contracted) Marketplace. U.S. home goods are the center of gravity. This is not Amazon, Wayfair Partner Home, or Walmart Marketplace. Listing a SKU on Overstock does not automatically place it in a Bed Bath & Beyond neighborhood store.
Who it's for
- U.S. furniture, rug, lighting, and home vendors that already dropship and can hold insurance and SLA.
- Existing Oasis / former Overstock partners sorting which banner a SKU belongs on after the 2023–2025 name changes.
- Mid-size home brands adding a deals site next to Wayfair, not replacing Amazon.
- Skip it: China-direct small parcels with no U.S. node; sellers who need a public commission %, or who think “Overstock shut down.”
Concrete use case: a California furniture dropshipper with a 3PL in the Inland Empire applies via the partner page, asks whether SKUs land on Overstock, Bed Bath & Beyond, or both, then models damage and prepaid-label returns before cutting base cost. If the only warehouse is in Shenzhen, this is the wrong queue.
Pricing and value
No verified public commission table in 2026. Economics are partner cost (or Marketplace proceeds) versus freight, damage, and returns. Do not copy random “3% FVF” figures from software blogs. Value is home-deal traffic and a second URL next to Wayfair — paid for with dropship performance. If you cannot run U.S. outbound and returns, the channel is more expensive than a 15% Amazon referral looks on paper.
Community feedback
Consumer Reddit (r/Overstock and related) is heavy on quality, delivery, and coupon confusion during the Bed Bath & Beyond rename. Vendor-side public threads are sparse compared with Amazon. Integration vendors complain about rotating Oasis API passwords and EDI vs older Partner Oasis. That is operational noise, not a star rating. Chinese seller media covered the 2023 rebrand more than a 2026 fee card — because there isn’t a public one.
Competitive positioning
Wayfair is the larger dedicated home dropship network (CastleGate optional). Amazon is general 3P. Walmart is mass retail. Overstock’s 2026 job is deals and home assortment under the Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. umbrella, not to be the default U.S. marketplace. Brand recognition of “Overstock” is weaker than in 2019; “Bed Bath & Beyond” is stronger with shoppers and more confusing for vendors who lived through the rename.
Alternatives
- Wayfair: application home dropship / CastleGate; still the specialist network to beat.
- Amazon: open 3P and FBA if you need volume more than a home-deals URL.
- Walmart: U.S. Marketplace / 1P when you want mass retail, not closeout furniture.
Limitations
Corporate and banner names changed twice in two years; logins and brand guidelines lag. No public fee card. Dropship damage and returns sit with the partner. Marketplace CS is seller-handled on Marketplace SKUs. Integrator “must have U.S. warehouse” claims need first-party confirmation. Physical Bed Bath & Beyond stores (via partners) are a different contract than .com dropship.
Verdict
In 2026 Overstock.com is a live deals site owned by Bed Bath & Beyond, Inc., not a dead URL and not a self-serve 3P. Use it if you already dropship U.S. home goods and the partner team will have you. Do not use it as an Amazon substitute, and do not pitch buyers with 2022 Overstock Inc. letterhead.
Next step: open bedbathandbeyond.com/partner and ask which banner and which Oasis account apply. Shop the live catalog on overstock.com so you know what the deals site actually looks like.
