Overview

Amazon Italy Seller Central is sellercentral.amazon.it. Shoppers use amazon.it. SP-API identifiers are IT and marketplace ID APJ6JRA9NG5V4. Currency is the euro. Italy’s standard IVA (VAT) rate is 22%, with reduced bands at 10%, 5%, and 4% depending on the product tax code. The storefront language is Italian. Amazon help has noted that Italy’s online registration flow is in Italian; if you cannot complete it, Selling Partner Support can still open the account.

Italy is part of the Europe unified account. A Professional selling account already running in Germany, France, Spain, the Netherlands, or the UK does not need a second “Italy company login.” You do need Italian listing copy, a decision on Italian VAT, and an explicit choice about whether Amazon may place inventory in Italian fulfilment centres. For cross-border sellers this is a southern-Europe storefront on an existing EU account, not a standalone country portal like India.

Unlike India, there is no GSTIN/APoB state-by-state warehouse registration. Instead you get SdI e-invoicing, packaging EPR (CONAI is the name sellers actually use), and GPSR responsible-person rules. Spain shares the unified account but not Italy’s invoice rail or 22% standard rate. Do not reuse Spanish listing copy here.

Core features and advantages

Unified EU account and Italian listings

Switch the country selector to Italy to manage amazon.it offers. Titles, bullets, A+ content, and buyer messages need Italian. Amazon’s Translate Products tool can draft copy; it will not save a bad category noun in a return dispute. Plugs, voltage, toys, cosmetics, and food still follow EU product rules. FBA covers a large share of post-purchase contact; merchant-fulfilled orders still need marketplace-language support and a returns path.

IVA, SdI, and OSS

Storing goods in Italy — FBA Italy or any 3PL — generally requires an Italian VAT number. EU-established companies can usually register directly; non-EU companies typically need a fiscal representative. Union OSS can fold eligible B2C distance sales into one return. OSS does not replace VAT in a country where you hold stock. Italy also runs Sistema di Interscambio (SdI): qualifying invoices travel as XML through the tax authority’s exchange. VAT Calculation Service can generate and submit some of those XML files when you are in scope; B2B invoices, credit notes, and intra-company stock moves still need an accountant’s workflow. Wrong PTCs or VIES numbers produce wrong invoices.

FBA Italy versus Pan-EU

You can keep inventory only in Italian centres for Prime IT, or enrol in Pan-European FBA so Amazon redistributes across enabled countries. Local-only storage is the conservative VAT footprint. Pan-EU usually means cheaper per-unit fulfilment and VAT plus Intrastat in every storage country. Pan-EU rules have long required offers on Germany, France, Italy, and Spain, and they now also require a Netherlands offer. Enable Italian listings and VAT before you allow Amazon to float stock into Italy.

Supported platforms

This hostname is for amazon.it. The same unified account can show DE, FR, ES, NL, BE, SE, PL, and other European stores — those are other country views, not extra features of the .it host. Registration marketing lives at sell.amazon.it. APIs should use APJ6JRA9NG5V4. This is not Shopify and it is not a substitute for local Italian marketplaces.

Who it's for

  • Sellers already on a Europe unified account who can ship Italian copy and want southern-Europe Prime speed.
  • Brands and mid-size FBA teams adding Italy as a Pan-EU storage and demand country.
  • Skip it if you only sell in North America, cannot handle 22% IVA and SdI, will not translate the listing, or have no GPSR responsible person for the EU.

Concrete use case: publish Italian detail pages for your top 10 SKUs, load the Italian VAT ID into Tax settings, turn on VCS, run the FBA calculator on Italy size tiers, then decide whether Pan-EU may place those SKUs in Italy. If you only distance-sell into Italy with no local stock, model OSS first; do not assume you need an Italian FC.

Pricing and value

Europe’s Professional plan is listed at €39 per month excluding VAT; Individual is €0.99 per item excluding VAT, plus category referral fees. The €39 figure applies when you have active listings only in Amazon’s European stores; merged accounts with North America or Japan can recalculate against a cap (see the monthly subscription FAQ). FBA, storage, ads, and VAT-service retainers are extra. 2026 brought EU low-price FBA and some referral changes — use the current EU fee summary, not a screenshot from 2024.

If you already pay the European Professional fee, Italy’s incremental cost is language, VAT, and inventory placement, not a second €39. Opening Italy from zero without Italian copy is how you pay the subscription and ads before the first order.

Community feedback

Operator guides and EU tax blogs repeat the same two points: Italian VAT is heavier than “just another EU store” because of SdI, and machine-translated Italian shows up in A-to-z claims. Pan-EU sellers treat Italian FCs as a delivery promise for the south, not as a product-research lab. Public Reddit volume is thinner than for Germany. Chinese seller media typically rank Italy after DE/FR when expanding in Europe; the blockers are tax and language, not the login button.

Competitive positioning

Italy is one Amazon EU store. Compare it with Amazon Spain Seller Central and Amazon Netherlands Seller Central: same unified account, different language, VAT rate, and invoice rules. eBay Italy is a different demand mix (parts, used, auctions). Keepa may chart amazon.it prices; it will not file IVA. A VAT agent does not replace the VAT IDs and VCS configuration inside Seller Central.

Alternatives

Limitations

Italian-language registration and buyer expectations. Stock in Italy triggers Italian VAT; OSS will not cover that. SdI and B2B invoices are not fully Amazon’s problem. Pan-EU can move units into countries where you are not VAT-registered yet. GPSR, packaging, and WEEE stay on the seller. Italy is not Amazon’s largest EU store; ads and enforcement still follow Amazon rules, not a “southern-Europe greenfield” story.

Verdict

If you already sell in Europe, can field Italian listings, and know the difference between OSS and storage-country VAT, run amazon.it properly on the unified account. If you only wanted a login that reaches Italian shoppers, you will hit invoices and language first.

Next step: open sellercentral.amazon.it from the Europe account, check Tax settings and Italian copy, then decide in FBA settings whether inventory may sit in Italy.

Data notes

Rechecked 2026-09-06 against sellercentral.amazon.it (HTTP 200), sell.amazon.it, EU VAT/SdI/VCS help, Pan-EU FBA programme copy, and the SP-API marketplace ID list. Professional plan €39/month excl. VAT is from Amazon Europe pricing pages. published (2024-03-15), monthlyVisits, domainRating, and authorityScore are catalog placeholders and unverified. Amazon.it is widely dated to 2010; this entry’s published date was not changed. Whether a fiscal representative is mandatory depends on establishment status and Agenzia delle Entrate practice — confirm with a tax adviser.
